Aerocivil has announced the construction of a new airport in Tolú, where Avianca, Latam and Jetsmart will be able to operate with Airbus A320 aircraft. The national government plans to develop beach tourism to compete with Santa Marta or Barranquilla, as confirmed by REPORTUR.co the director of Aerocivil, Sergio Paris.
“Tolú will have a runway for A320s, which we are building, that is the next tourist destination in the country, it will most likely share passenger movement data as Santa Marta or Barranquilla do today and it will be an alternative for Colombians and for beach tourism in Colombia,” París told this newspaper.
He also commented that the other bet “is Nuquí, which has to do with the operation of a different type of tourism, but it is working and in that order of ideas it is about continuing to emphasize the effort in the Pacific,” said Paris.
As reported by REPORTUR.co, Civil Aeronautics has been working at the San Andrés airport, as it is incorporating new technology in the control tower, it is seeking the concession to manage and renovate the terminal, and the runway is operational, as confirmed at the time by REPORTUR.coSergio Paris, director of the entity. “From the point of view of the runway, there is no problem, it is very good, it is operable, there are no difficulties and from the point of view of the terminal, our final solution was to go for the concession. Initially, 12 interested parties were present and we hope that four of them will submit an offer and that the concession will be awarded. The concession changes the terminal in a dramatic way, meaning that the current terminal in San Andrés will remain in our history and memory, it has completed its cycle and that is the hope and the commitment that we have as a government,” Paris told this newspaper at the time.
