Grupo Abra, the parent company of Avianca and Gol, signed an agreement with Airbus to acquire five A350s, with which it hopes to offer better prices, greater connectivity between Latin America and Europe, as well as being more efficient in fuel consumption.
The agreement was signed by Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President for Sales, and Adrian Neuhauser, Abra CEO. “We are very pleased to announce this agreement with Airbus. We believe that the arrival of these five A350s, which offer passengers a best-in-class experience, are more fuel efficient and have a lower cost per seat than competing aircraft, will allow us to reinforce our commitment to making Travel more accessible and responsible,” said Neuhauser.
He also noted that it will also allow them to offer “better prices for customers, better connectivity between our continent and Europe and further consolidate Abra as one of the largest and most competitive air transport groups in Latin America. This selection of aircraft is consistent with the strategic announcements we have made this year and reinforces our long-term vision,” said Neuhauser.
For his part, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry said: “We are delighted to see that the Abra Group is supporting the A350 to continue its mission of strengthening air connectivity between Latin America and the rest of the world. The selection of the A350 reaffirms the aircraft as the undisputed leader in long-distance air Travel.”
As reported by REPORTUR.cothe Abra group recently announced its purchase of Wamos to the European National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) in order to finalize and complete its integration. (Owner of Avianca, about to close its purchase of “a jewel”).
The Commission has one month to analyse the operation and issue its opinion. The negotiations between the parties are based on compliance with European Union regulations regarding air services, ownership and control of airlines, and execution is subject, among other things, to approvals from the competent jurisdictions.
