David Alemán, Avianca Sales Director for Colombia and Latin America, commented to REPORTUR.co within the framework of the launch of the four routes from Medellín to Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Lima and Aruba, that the direct route strategy already reaches 40% of its operation.

And he added that “without a doubt we trust and are sure that this is great news for the region, without a doubt connecting many more travelers with Medellín and of course from Medellín to those destinations that we are inaugurating today,” he commented to this newspaper.
As reported REPORTUR.coRecently, Avianca announced that it will stop competing with Copa and Azul, on the route between Bogotá and Bello Horizonte, Brazil, after a year and three months of operating it, since the demand had not been enough to continue flying to this Brazilian destination. Avianca started the route with the aim of competing with Copa Airlines and Azul, since they are the only operators in international destinations for Bello Horizonte. Likewise, the company explained that “it constantly evaluates the performance of our route network, to ensure that our resources are focused on serving the routes with the greatest passenger demand,” the airline communicated at the time.
