Jean Luis Rodríguez, director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), stated that the flow of cruise ships is advancing upwards, so it is expected that by next year 2025 the flow will be 200,000 cruise passengers in newly opened ports such as Red Cape.
He reported that 13 tourist-fishing docks have been inaugurated nationwide and announced two more in the coming days.
He explained that they are located in Salinas, Peravia province (Bani) and another in miches, El Seibo. In addition to a commercial dock Barahona. In the case of the North, he highlighted that docks have been inaugurated in important fishing areas such as Sánchez, Puerto Plata, Cabrera and San Juan Riverthe latter being a specialized dock for fishing at an industrial level.
On the pier in Santo Domingo, the official said that it is the second port in the entire region that has the largest number of imported vehicles. Mentioning that in the future it could have engineering and improvements to increase its loading capacity.
He also added that Santo Domingo has three essential qualities to be an excellent competitor in the region, which are airport, hotels and port, according to CDN.
