An alleged migrant from the Dominican Republic heading to the United States was found dead in El Salvador “without signs of violence,” the Salvadoran National Civil Police (PNC) reported yesterday Monday.

The Police detailed that “the body does not show any signs of violence” and that, according to preliminary information, the victim “fell from the truck in which he was traveling with other migrants illegally, heading to the United States.”

He noted that the woman, whose age was not specified, “was carrying $6,500 and an iPhone” and added that “an autopsy will be performed” and that “investigations will continue.”

El Salvador is a transit route, in smaller numbers than other countries in the Central American region, for migrants seeking to reach the United States illegally.

In 2023 there were more than 2.4 million migrant apprehensions at the southern border of the United States, a record number.

Migrants aspire to reach the US or Canada in search of better living conditions, but on their journey they face multiple dangers and difficulties, such as gang violence – in the case of Central America – or criminal gangs. organized or drug trafficking -as in the case of Mexico-.
