The Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez inaugurated this Thursday the festival Starlite Christmas in Madrid with a concert which combined emotion, nostalgia and celebration, and in which ‘El Potrillo’ took a tour of his greatest hits and performed tribute to your fatherthe also singer Vicente Fernández.
“Very, very happy to be here with everyone youenjoying Spain, many people who have come here from Mexico. I already consider Spain as my second home,” said Fernández at the beginning of the show.
He artist began with “May you be very happy”, followed by songs like “I was”, “Today I want you” and “I’m going to lose you”, which were chanted by a public delivered.
Fernández recalled that December 12 is a special date for Mexicans when celebrating the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupebut he also confessed that this date marks the anniversary of the death of his father.
“Three years ago, on this special day for Mexicans, my father left. Thank you for the love you gave him,” he said excitedly before performing “Estas jealousas” and “Pátima que ser ajena,” in tribute to Vicente Fernández.
The artist was close, sharing anecdotes and joking with him publiceven when he was wrong at one point, he said humorously: “Oh, I don’t know what I was thinking!”
Cultural connection
One of the most emotional moments of the night came when Fernández took out the flags of Mexico and Spain during “Disappointments” and “Light Helmets”, highlighting the cultural connection between both countries.
The closing of concert was full of energy and traditionwith a tribute to the classics of Vicente Fernández, such as “The King”, “Volver, Volver” and “Like Who Loses a Star”.

The second edition of festival Starlite Christmaswhich will take place at the Fairgrounds of Madrid Ifema until next December 31, will offer concerts by national and international artists and different leisure experiences, such as gastronomic spaces and Christmas shopping.
