The Assembly of the Mexican Aviation Flight Attendants Union Association (ASSA) approved the revision of the collective bargaining agreement it maintains with Aeroméxico. After two votes, and in the midst of various irregularities denounced by its own members, the union association accepted, with 384 votes in favor, the airline’s proposal that implies an increase of 4.65 percent in salary and 3.93 in benefits.
“This review will allow our fellow Flight attendants to improve their income level and quality of life, always maintaining the highest safety conditions,” the airline said in a statement. In this way, the strike scheduled for June 1 is ruled out.
The agreement contemplates that the company will respect 48 hours of rest on long-range Flights to Europe and Asia. In addition, the airline’s proposal for its Flight attendants to “sell their vacations” is maintained, so that in seasons with high demand it does not hire additional personnel, in exchange for paying triple the salary to those who desist from taking days off. . Union aid will also be provided, for which Aeroméxico grants ASSA one million pesos.
Aeroméxico stated in the statement that “it appreciates the will and commitment of the ASSA and the different government agencies involved in this negotiation, and is proud to have the most professional group of aviation workers in the industry. With this review, Aeroméxico consolidates itself as the company that provides the best working conditions in the airline industry of our country.”
As reported REPORTUR.mx, when the date established by the Aeroméxico Flight attendants union to carry out the strike approached, the airline made progress in negotiations, especially with the salary increase offsetting at least the inflationary effect.
