Travel agencies have stated that luxury hotels in Acapulco have not been reactivated after the passage of Hurricane Otis, which has affected the arrival of foreign tourism.
“We are in a clear recovery and we do have a certain inventory of rooms, but on average the majority of these are four and three stars. We are in the process as Travel agents of providing us with four and five star products in greater quantities to be able to invite that type of foreign tourism that is interested in coming in some way,” said the president of the Mexican Association of Agencies. of Travel (AMAV) of Guerrero, Levin Williams Manzanares, as reported by El Sol de Acapulco.
Likewise, he indicated that they hope that in the coming months Acapulco will reactivate higher category hotels because that helps Travel agents have a luxury offer for foreign tourism.
On the other hand, he pointed out that national tourism is still interested in the destination, but does not make reservations, but arrives from one moment to the next and those who book are those who arrive at four and five star hotels and grand tourism.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, in April they projected that Hotel prices in Acapulco were going to increase to compensate for the damage caused by Hurricane Otis. Until a month ago there were only 9,500 rooms available and they expected that in half a year it would increase to 21,000, according to Debate. (Acapulco: Hotel prices will be higher due to Hurricane Otis).
The forecast of Travel agencies at that time was that prices could increase between 10 and 30 percent in the following months.
