This Wednesday, Juan Alfredo Granado Herrera, alias “the Guard“, identified as one of the alleged perpetrators of the death of Army Second Lieutenant Gregorio Ramírez Pineda, who was killed during an assault in San Cristóbal.
The National Police reported in a press release that the delivery took place in the office of the agency’s Strategic Communications Directorate, where Granado Herrera was received by officers from the Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim), led by the deputy director of that agency, Colonel Ysaías Tamárez.
Present at the event were his father, Juan Granado, the lawyer, Pablo de la Cruz Castro, and the representative of Human Rights, Martín Santana.
The crime occurred during a alleged assault in the vicinity of a fuel station located on the 6 de Noviembre highway, in the San Cristóbal province.
“Given the search and capture work carried out by the National Police, Granado Herrera opted to to surrender voluntarily”, Police said.
The National Police reported that it will guarantee the physical integrity of the detainee, who will be subjected to the corresponding legal process to clarify the facts and determine his degree of participation in the case.
