The couple made up of Dominicans Christopher and Yvelisse Guzmanaccused by the prosecutor’s office from Queens, New York, to sell stolen products in the United States and the Dominican Republic, will return to court on January 15 to answer the charges against them, including promoting the sale of stolen goods.
Yvelisse’s mother, Rosa Rodriguez Santanaand the other two co-defendants in the case, Johanny Almonte Reyes and Tiffany León Fuentesare also scheduled to go to court the same day.
In mid-November, Guzmanhis wife, his mother-in-law and co-defendant Almonte were indicted on charges of first-degree criminal possession of stolen property, four counts of second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree conspiracy, three counts of attempted criminal possession of property stolen in the third degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and four counts of encouraging the sale of stolen property.
While Tiffany Leon Fuenteswho was seen stealing articles on display in two stores Ulta Beauty worth more than $3,000 to allegedly be sold to Guzmanfaces charges of criminal possession of stolen property in the first degree, four counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree, grand larceny in the third degree, conspiracy in the fourth degree, three counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree and petit larceny.
The five defendants face a grief up to 25 years prison if they are found guilty of the main charge.
The prosecutors of Queens accuse the five defendants of operating a criminal gang theft and sale of articles on a large scale, which in two years generated an estimated figure of two million dollars.
The accusation points out that the Guzman they sold articles stolen, including high-end makeup, perfumes, beauty products, designer clothing and accessories, in the United States and the Dominican Republic under the name of Yvelisse Fashion, LLC.
In a release published by the prosecutor’s office last 26th November It is explained that the husbands allegedly ordered the theft of articles specific ones in retail stores and then sell them from his home and a store located in Santiago de los Caballeros, in the Dominican Republic.
Furthermore, they allege that the couple paid truck drivers to divert products destined for retailers like Sephora and Ulta Beauty from manufacturers’ warehouses directly to locations under its control.
In a record last 22 November in three key places for operation of the band, the researchers seized more than 50,000 beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, designer clothing and retail accessories with a total retail value of US$1,096,004.74. This total included approximately 31,622 products in their original wholesale packaging allegedly stolen from the distribution center with a retail value of US$795,560.
