Iberia has announced a change in the route between Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, and Madrid. Due to the works at the South American airport, the IAG company’s planes will have to make a stop in Tenerife Sur before arriving at Barajas.
In a statement sent to the Travel agency channel, Iberia explains that the reason is that “we have to use an alternative runway that has a weight limit for takeoff,” so its planes will not be able to fill their tanks.
“This forces us to make a one-hour technical stop in the Canary Islands to refuel. The departure time of the Flight has been brought forward, in order to maintain all connections at Madrid airport,” he added. The company will have to make this stopover at least until 3 September.
As reported by REPORTUR.usIberia recently announced that it will operate more routes to Latin America with aircraft leased from Wamos Air, as a result of the shortage of aircraft that the IAG airline is experiencing. (Iberia will operate more routes to Latam with Wamos Air aircraft).
