The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that for this Tuesday, August 13 in the afternoon, the proximity of the storm ernest will cause scattered showers with thunderstorms and gusts of wind.

This climate will predominate over the provinces of the following slopes: North, northeast, east and the Central mountain range. Especially towards: The Altagracia, The Seibo, The Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Duarte, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Samana and The Great Santo Domingo.

Due to the rain forecast for the next 36 to 48 hours, meteorological alerts have been issued for possible flooding of rivers, streams and ravines, as well as landslides and urban flooding.

According to the weather service, Ernesto is expected to bring strong winds and rain to portions of the Leeward Islands beginning Tuesday night.

Ernesto is located approximately 475 kilometers (290 mi) east/southeast of Antigua. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kph (40 mph) and is moving rapidly west/northwest at about 44 kph (27 mph).

In this regard, the Emergency Operations Center (COE), placed a total of 9 provinces on green alert.

The provinces are: La Romana, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macoris, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Samana, La Altagracia, Duarte, Monte Plata and Hato Mayor.
