Argentina: Paraguay joins Milei’s Open Skies plan

Paraguay joins the Open Skies policy promoted by Milei’s National Government by signing a Memorandum of Understanding and becomes the sixth country in the region to participate in this measure that will provide the necessary tools to increase the number of Flights between both countries, boost tourism and attract investments in the sector.

By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, both countries agree to negotiate a new Air Services Agreement, which will allow work to be done on the liberalization of Flights, the multiple designation of airlines, tariff deregulation, facilities for the implementation of business agreements and strengthening operational safety.

The Government assures that “this agreement is one of the most extensive that has been signed so far, reciprocally allowing domestic Flights by airlines of the other State, both for passengers and exclusive cargo.” In addition, it will allow a change from a system of restricted frequencies to a system of unlimited frequencies, in which each airline will have the freedom to determine the number of frequencies according to the market forecast and its characteristics at any given time.

The measure was made official with the signature of the Secretary of Transportation of the Nation, Franco Mogetta and Nelson Mendoza, president of the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DINAC) of Paraguay. Also present were the Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports, Daniel Scioli and the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Ambassador Marcelo Cima.
