“There is irrefutable evidence that we won,” Machado said outside the UN headquarters in Caracas. “You trusted us and now we ask you to trust us. Just as we won, we will collect,” said the opposition leader.We managed to get Edmundo to get 70% of the votes because we united a country. Many of the people who believed in Chavismo are with us today,” he added, urging citizens to demonstrate peacefully.

He also called the armed forces to “defend sovereignty and protect the Venezuelan people“.

For its part, The OAS called an emergency meeting to analyze the situation in Venezuela and described the electoral process as an “aberrant manipulation.”

In the face of doubts and criticism from the Maduro government, those who do not recognize the results of the elections have been threatened with sentences of up to six years in prison.

From Argentina, the chancellor Diana Mondino will travel to the special session of the OAS for Venezuela that will be held in Washington.
