The project to build a park among mangroves at the entrance to the Hotel zone of Cancun, closed for violating environmental laws and not having the necessary permits, can still be seen from the air.
This park is located right in front of the El Table housing complex and next to Residencial la Vista, on Antonio Enriquez Savignac Avenue, behind the Cancun Bullring.
Construction of the project began shortly after Hurricane Wilma in 2005, and by mid-2006 the complete heart shape could be seen in a mangrove area that until then had been well preserved.
A walkway encompassing the entire heart shape and two roundabouts were built, but the project could not move forward because in February 2007, Article 60 TER of the General Law on Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection came into force, which protects mangrove areas and prohibits their destruction.
Until then, the Corazone Park project did not have the corresponding permits and was closed due to the damage to the mangroves.
Access to this place remains closed and is only visible from the air with a drone or through Google Maps where you can see this giant heart.
