Six provinces were placed on Wednesday afternoon in green alert, due to showers that are expected on Dominican territory as a result of a tropical wave which will cross the country this Thursday.

In green alert There are the provinces of Duarte, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Samana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor and La Altagracia.

When declaring the alertsthe Emergency Operations Center (COE) recommended that people refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water.

Rains

During the afternoon and evening of this Wednesday, the wind from the east/northeast will bring humidity associated with the proximity of a active tropical wave east of Puerto Rico and a trough that will produce clouds with showers local in some points of the northeast, southeast and the Central Mountain Range, especially La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, San Cristobal, Peravia, San Jose de Ocoa, Monsignor Nouel, San Juan, Elias Piña, among other nearby ones.

Thursday will increase showers

According to the report of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), a significant increase in humidity is expected this Thursday due to the direct impact of the active tropical wave.

“As the tropical wave moves west/northwest, it will cause strong showers with thunderstorms and gusts of wind wind over a large part of the national territory,” he said.

The active tropical wave that will affect the country starting this Thursday is currently located east of Puerto Rico. Rain is expected to occur from early morning on Thursday and throughout the day in the Dominican territory.

On Friday, although the axis of the active tropical wave will be over the western part of the country, there will be enough humidity for cloudy conditions to return from early morning, accompanied by showers being moderate to strong, depending on the Indomet.
