The National Directorate of Control of Drugs (DNCD) and members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC), coordinated by the Public Ministry, confiscated 39 packages presumably containing cocaine, in an inspection operation carried out at the Punta Cana International Airport, province of La Altagracia.
The agents and military personnel stationed at the terminal were carrying out verification work when, using the X-ray machine, they detected inconsistencies in two suitcases, which were found near one of the terminal’s boarding areas.
In the presence of a prosecutor, the luggage was opened, and two suitcases and four backpacks were found, containing a total of 39 packages of the substance, with a preliminary weight of 41 kilograms.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the DNCD have launched an investigation into the failed international drug trafficking operation, in order to arrest and bring to justice those involved in the case.
“Official agencies have stepped up operations against illicit drug trafficking, which has allowed them to continue dealing important blows to national and international drug trafficking networks”
The 39 packages of the substance were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
