The Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) authorized 400 golf cart concessions to provide public transportation services in Tulum. According to what was published in the Official State Gazette on August 15, a mobility impact study carried out in June of this year by Imoveqroo, revealed the need to have a transportation option in the face of population growth in this city.
According to the document, the introduction of these golf carts is considered an “acceptable option for the movement of users from the urban area to the coastal and tourist area”, having a route along some primary and secondary roads, considered as a more comfortable option within the current transportation offers in Tulum.
He also mentions that golf carts have a regulated speed of approximately 30 kilometers per hour and are smaller than the average vehicle, making them a non-invasive option for users. These golf carts can transport between two and four people, or up to six passengers maximum, including the driver.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxfollowing the rapid growth of Tulum with the mega projects of the Government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), the municipal president of Tulum, Diego Castañón, announced that 500 surveillance cameras and a new monitoring center will be installed, in order to protect the population and tourists.
