92% of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic intend to return to the country on vacation, reflecting a high level of satisfaction with their experience, according to a survey by the Mitur carried out between January and July 2024.
Mitur conducted its analysis of the tourist experience, carrying out 248,973 surveys that addressed key aspects such as satisfaction, destinations visited, trip planning, use of social networks and gastronomy.
Of the more than 48,000 surveys conducted to evaluate the tourist experience, the results indicate that five out of ten participants carried out outstanding activities such as visiting the Saona Island (15%), snorkeling (12%), Four Wheel rides (11%), excursions to the Colonial Zone (7%) and horseback riding (4%), among other activities.
In addition, 80% of tourists expressed their desire to repeat the activities they enjoyed during their stay.
As for accommodation, 78% of tourists opted to stay in hotels, while 8% chose to stay with friends or relatives, another 8% rented a short-term accommodation, 4% used their own accommodation and the remaining 2% registered as timeshares.
96% of visitors said they would stay at the selected accommodation again.
The most popular destinations were Punta Canawith 40% of visits, followed by Santo Domingo (19 %), Puerto Plata (13 %), The Roman (11 %), Samana (8 %), Santiago (7%) and Barahona (2%). More than 93% of tourists indicated that they would repeat the destination they visited.
