The state attorney general’s office (FGE) and the National Guard (GN) rescued 17 women victims of human trafficking for sexual and labor exploitation in Playa del Carmen; fifteen of them of Argentine nationality and two of them Mexican.
The operation was carried out in a night club located on Constituciónntes Avenue in this city, on the Cancún-Tulum federal highway, where three men identified as Luis Alfredo “N”, Emmanuel “N” and Ángel Alberto “N” were detained, for their probable participation in this crime.
According to the first investigations, the foreign victims were deceived with false job offers in luxury hotels in Playa del Carmen. Upon arriving in Mexico, supposedly on vacation, they were forced to work in bars and restaurants, exploiting their economic vulnerability and the lack of employment in Argentina.
At the end of the search, the agents placed security seals in the establishment, while the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, which will determine their legal situation within the established period.
Until now, the identity of the victims is unknown, as well as their immigration status, however, they all received psychological and legal help.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, in April the airline Volaris rescued a child from a human trafficking network before he boarded a Flight from AICM to Monterrey. (Volaris saves a minor from human trafficking at the AICM).
“The Volaris staff at the capital airport, following the procedures and instructions acquired in the continuous training they receive to identify and deal with this type of case, activated the protocol and notified the corresponding authorities when they noticed inconsistencies in the documentation and other evidence, with the aim of safeguarding the integrity of the minor,” the airline reported at the time.
