The Operations Center Emergency (COE) reported that it maintains 16 provinces on yellow alert and increases 8 provinces and the National District to green alertdue to the incidence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere, which will produce downpours.
The provinces on yellow alert are: María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, El Seibo, Monte Plata, La Altagracia, Espaillat, Samaná, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Puerto Plata, Hato Mayor, Monte Cristi and Hermanas Mirabal.
While on green alert are: Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, San Pedro de Macorís, Azua, Elías Piña, La Romana, Valverde, Dajabón and San José de Ocoa.
The Emergency Operations Center recommended people refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water in the provinces under alert.
In its report today, the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) explained that moderate to locally strong downpours, thunderstorms and gusts of wind persist in much of the country.
