He Bellapart Museum announced that the works loaned to the company returned to the country Venice Biennale 2024.
The works of the dominican teachers of the 20th century, Celeste Woss and Gil (“Nude”, 1948), Jaime Colson (“Japanese”, 1927) and Gilberto Hernandez Ortega (“Marchanta”, 1976), were selected by the curator Adriano Pedrosa after a visit to museum at the beginning of 2023.
The Venice Biennale 2024
The 60th International Art Exhibitionof the Venice Biennalewas held between April 20 and November 24, 2024, in the Central Pavilion of the Giardini della Biennale and in the Arsenale.
«Stranieri Ovunque» (“Foreigners everywhere”), the qualification of the exposurearises from a series of works started in 2004 by the Claire Fontaine collective, founded in Paris, France, and established in Palermo, Sicily.
Furthermore, the phrase comes from a Turin collective that fought against racism and the xenophobia in Italy in the early 2000s.
Pedrosa explained that “the expression «Stranieri Ovunque» has several meanings: firstly, that wherever you go and wherever you are, you will always find foreigners: they/we are everywhere. Secondly, no matter where you are, you are always, really and deeply, a foreigner.”

A milestone for Latin Americans
The Brazilian artist, writer, editor and independent curator, Adriano Pedrosais the artistic director of the Museum of Art from São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) since November 2014, and became the first latin american in healing «l´Esposizione Internazionale d´Art of the Biennale» (the International Exhibition of the Biennial of Art).
Roberto Cicuttopresident of the Venice Biennaleexpressed that he selected Pedrosa with the purpose of having him contribute his point of view on the art contemporary, recognizing that each curator influences the perception and interpretation of visitors. In this way, I could reinterpret each culture present as a reverse shot in a film.
The «Contemporary Nucleo» and the «Historical Nucleo»
The exhibition was divided into two sections: he “Contemporary core” and the “Historical core”.
He «Contemporary Core» (“Contemporary Nucleus”) interprets the term “foreigner” from two points of view: first, from its connection with the concept “strange”. Secondly, analyze the phrase “Das Unheimliche” (“the unusual”), by Sigmund Freud, which has also been translated into Portuguese as “the stranger”: a stranger who, deep down, is familiar to us.
Within this context, the exhibition focuses on the artist queer, which is found within different sexualities and genders; he artist outsider, that is situated on the margins of the world of art; he indigenous artisttreated as a foreigner in his own land, and the artist autodidactthe artist folk and the artist popular.
For his part, the «Historical Nucleus» (“Historical Core”) brought together works from the 20th century, from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, recognizing the existing familiarity with the histories of modernism in ‘Euro-America’, while modernisms in the Global South remain, largely part, unknown.
In the Central Pavilion, three rooms for this nucleus, a titled “Portraits”, other “Abstractions” and the third dedicated to the global Italian artistic diaspora of the last century.
He Bellapart Museum
He Bellapart Museum is the first museum of plastic artson a private basis, from the Dominican Republic. It was founded in 1999 by the Catalan businessman, Juan José Bellapart.
It is dedicated solely to art Dominican. The Bellapart Collection, which has nearly 2,000 pieces and has been assembled since the 1960s by the Bellapart family, offers a complete vision of the stylistic evolution of Dominican plastic arts.
It begins with paintings from the 1890s until reaching the present. Covers all styles and artistic currents of the 20th and 21st centuriesfocused on four chronological axes: paintings, sculptures, engravings and drawings.
