“Four years ago we were very bad, there were only three mammograms in operation in the hospitals of the public network,” admitted the official.
Today, the work of detection develops in ten hospitals prioritized and mobile days in various regions of the country, supported by the National Health Insurance (Senasa).

Among the hospitals that have recorded the highest number of people screened in Santo Domingo, the Materno Reynaldo Almánzar stands out, with 11,617 patients treated; Our Lady of La Altagracia, with 8,592; the Jaime Mota Regional Hospital, in Barahona, with 7,230; and the Doctor Luis Morillo King Regional Hospital, in La Vega, with 4,189.
“We are saving lives. The impact of this program We cannot evaluate it in one or two years, but rather in five to ten, when the prognoses of death from cancer begin to decrease,” said Lama.

To commemorate the third anniversary of the initiative “Check yourself“and within the framework of Breast Cancer Awareness Monthdevelops a day free until October 20 in the Eugenio María de Hostos park, in the National District.
Gynecological consultations, laboratory tests, imaging studies, hospitalization, oncological treatment and follow-up will be offered from eight in the morning to four in the afternoon.
