Braulio Arsuaga, president of the National Tourism Business Council (CNET), predicts that during Claudia Sheinbaum’s term, Mexico will build 87,000 Hotel rooms, although it has the potential to build 163,500 rooms.
To achieve this goal, CNET is asking for the country’s investment in promoting tourism abroad to be restored. “We are not asking for the CPTM (Mexican Tourism Promotion Council) to be returned, but rather for an organic issue to be able to receive money and invest in strengthening the Mexico brand, which has fallen in the rankings; in public relations to be able to bring influencers to speak well of the country and in containing crises,” said Arsuaga.
The organization also proposes the creation of new, fully-designed centers in cities, not only on beaches, but also the development of new nature tourism products.
Furthermore, in its proposal, CNET highlights the importance of projects to create social tourism programs, support for small and medium-sized tourism companies, and support for destinations.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxArsuaga also raised in Abastur 2024, before the recent inauguration of Sheinbaum, that the challenge of the sector is insecurity, because the bad image of the country drives away tourists and stops the growth of small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, he asked for greater economic and legal security for investors (They ask Sheinbaum for physical and legal security for tourism projects).
