Adrián Fernández, the Spanish tourist who fell ill during his honeymoon and was in a coma for several days, has been discharged from the hospital after almost 20 days in the hospital.
The family has reported that there are still some issues to resolve with the medical center that has assisted Adrián for almost twenty days, but is already preparing his return in the coming days to the tourist’s hometown, Alcira, in Valencia.
Fernández vanished in the pool of the Caribbean Hotel where she was enjoying her honeymoon on Sunday, May 5. He swallowed a lot of water and suffered cardiac arrest. After ten minutes of resuscitation he was transferred to a hospital, where he remained sedated and in a coma for several days.
The family launched an appeal due to the high cost of health care, which amounted to between 8,000 and 10,000 euros per day during the most complicated stage of his hospitalization, although the bill was reduced as he improved.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, the family is considering requesting a bank loan since they are depleting their savings and do not know how much longer Fernández will be admitted to Cancún, a town to which both the patient’s parents and those of his wife have moved.
