President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum has created the Business Council, which will be coordinated by businesswoman Altagracia Gómez Sierra, to ensure communication between the business sector and part of the presidential cabinet, starting when she takes office on October 1.
Its members include businessmen Carlos Slim, owner of Carso; Daniel Chávez, president of Grupo Vidanta; Carlos Hank González, president of Grupo Financiero Banorte; Bernardo Gómez, co-executive president of Televisa; and Miguel Rincón, executive president of Bio Pappel, among others.
“It is a council of businessmen that Altagracia would coordinate and that would be in contact with Marcelo (Economy), with Rogelio Ramírez de la O (Treasury), and with the different secretariats. With Luz Elena González, who would make up the Secretaries of State for this work plan that we want to develop,” Sheinbaum said at a press conference, as reported by Infobae.
The initiative arose because there is great interest from investors in Mexico, said Sheinbaum. “There is a lot of interest in investing in Mexico and we are very enthusiastic about the next six years so that this will generate not only investment, but also development and well-being for Mexicans,” said the president-elect.
She also reiterated that “the idea is that Altagracia, who is a businesswoman, who has helped us and with whom we have been working for a long time, can coordinate this council of various businessmen and women,” Sheinbaum said.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxSheinbaum will continue to have the support of the country’s businessmen, including Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico, who has been instrumental in carrying out Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s (AMLO) mega-project, the Mayan Train. Slim has been very close to AMLO and has helped to materialize the works of the 4T, in addition to having been fundamental in calming the mood of the scandal when Line 12 of the Metro collapsed when Sheinbaum was the president of the government of Mexico City.
