SANTO DOMINGO.- Starting Saturday at seven in the morning (24 hours before the elections), the sale of alcoholic beverages will be prohibited, a provision contained in article 232 of the Electoral Law.

The information is contained in a statement from the Ministry of the Interior and Police, addressed to merchants referring to the legal measure, released this Monday.

The entity explained that the ban applies 24 hours before the process and up to twelve hours after the elections are over.

“We inform you that the COBA units will be carrying out a continuous tour to ensure compliance with this electoral ban, at the same time we want both parties to be clear that the violation of this will imply a temporary closure, as established in decree 308-06”.

The presidential and congressional elections will be held this Sunday, May 19, 2024.
