The Civil Guard has arrested 30 people and investigated another 56 for the theft of computers, watches and jewelry in the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport over the past year.
Among the clarified cases is that of parents who encouraged their minor daughter to steal a watch valued at more than 10,000 euros when it was in the security filter trays.
According to the Madrid Civil Guard Command, the investigations carried out by the agents of the Fiscal and Border Unit of the airport from June 2023 to that month of 2024 were based on the different complaints filed by the victims in the citizen service offices located in terminals one and four.
Thanks to the cameras that the airport operator Aena has distributed throughout the premises, investigators have carried out up to 86 operations in the last year, resulting in 30 arrests and 56 investigations.
The alleged perpetrators of these thefts took advantage of moments when their potential victims lost sight of their belongings, such as when they were passing security measures.
