During a solemn meeting at the facilities of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic, the act of exaltation Laudatio Academicathe highest distinction that the entity grants to its most outstanding members.
In him were exalted anthropologist Bernardo Vegathe historian Frank de Moya Pons and the folklorist Dagoberto Tejeda, who received the symbols of their recognition: certificate, medal and photographic unveiling of them.
Manuel Ramón Herrera Carbucciapresident of the ACRD, presided over the activity, together with the Board of Directors of the entity for the period 2024-2027.
When delivering the central speech of the ceremony, Herrera Carbuccia highlighted the great contributions to the national development in the field of economics, history and culture.
Contributions from those recognized
From now on Vega, Moya Pons and Tejeda will share the Laudatio Academica honor roll with great figures in history such as Pedro Mir, Pedro Troncoso and Idelisa Bonnelly de Calventi, at a time when the academy turns 50 years old.
- Bernardo Vegawho is a Dominican writer, economist, historian, anthropologist, university professor, political scientist and sociologist, has stood out for being one of the most prolific authors in the country.
- Frank Moya Pons He has developed a successful career as a researcher of the historical moments of the Dominican Republic, from the time of Spanish colonization to the present day.
- Dagoberto Tejeda has dedicated more than 60 years of experience to the research and promotion of folkloric manifestations – such as the Carnival of La Vega, the Congos of Villa Mella or the Guloya of San Pedro de Macorís – and artistic manifestations – such as bachata and merengue. –, publishing more than 50 books in which he compiles Dominican culture and traditions.
