In two months, 10,000 Peruvian tourists have stopped arriving at destinations in Quintana Roo because they require a visa, making it the fourth country to fall in Latin American markets such as Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia.

“The contraction of Latin American markets is very strong, since these markets are important for the Mexican Caribbean and the country, which according to the data already analyzed would add up to a total of 500 thousand that stopped arriving to Mexico,” said Francisco Madrid Flores, director of the Center for Advanced Research in Sustainable Tourism.

He also recommended that the visa issue for Peruvians be reviewed, since it was one of the markets that was growing. This situation is already noticeable in the drop in air operations, since in the summer there have not been more than 600 air operations in one day, as there were in other seasons, as reported by Sipse.

As reported by REPORTUR.mxin June there was no progress with electronic visas for Brazilian tourists despite the announcement that they would be available again in May, acknowledged the state secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto and Lilian Zanon, honorary consul of Brazil in the city. (Cancun: Brazilians look for other destinations due to lack of electronic visas).

“There is no progress, we still have no news. We are very aware that this may happen and we will keep you informed,” Bernardo Cueto acknowledged at the time.
