QRoo: they ask to expand the trust to Bacalar, Puerto Morelos and Tulum

Sergio León Cervantes, president of Businessmen for Quintana Roo, believes that the trust granted by the state government for the administration and payment of services in the Hotel zone of Cancun should be expanded to destinations such as Bacalar, Puerto Morelos and Tulum, since they are the largest contributors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that goes to the Federation.

“The context of contributions from Quintana Roo is due to the almost 33 million tourists who visit almost 11 municipalities, and to sell well, we must have a good image, with good services: good lighting, streets in good condition, security, medical services, among many others,” said the business leader, as reported by Quintana Roo Hoy.

He added that Quintana Roo has a budget 50% below what it should have, so he said that work should be done in roundtables “to discuss the needs that exist in tourist destinations, but based on the contributions made with the GDP,” he indicated.

I also urge that citizens, businesses and the government participate in determining the priorities of tourist centres. “A poorly managed place, far from being beneficial, will be detrimental to everyone,” he concluded.

“We have been working on the transfer agreement in Cancun and Cozumel, with the aim of ensuring that no service is affected by this transition and that attention to the Hotel zone is optimized; we will make the necessary legal and regulatory adjustments from the advisory office,” said Felipe Fuentes del Río, head of the Legal Advisory Office of the Executive Branch of Quintana Roo.
