The 2024 summer vacation season in Puerto Morelos has concluded with positive results, highlighting an increase in Hotel occupancy and the influx of tourists. According to the municipal secretary of Sustainable Tourism, Raúl Guadarrama, the accumulated Hotel occupancy reached 70.6%, with an increase of 3.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Guadarrama stressed that both hoteliers and restaurateurs, nautical operators and other service providers are satisfied with the results. The economic benefits generated during the season ensure the continuity of their businesses.

The destination has seen an increase in the preference of visitors, mainly from the United States and Canada, who seek to enjoy the warm climate and water activities that the region offers, such as fishing, diving and snorkeling in the second largest barrier reef in the world.

The official stressed the importance of maintaining the constant promotion of Puerto Morelos’ tourist attractions to ensure optimal occupancy throughout the year. The municipal president, Blanca Merari, has emphasized that tourism activity is crucial for the local economy, so the promotion of beaches, the Route of the Cenotes, the reef and gastronomy remains a priority.

As reported by REPORTUR.mxCancun hoteliers have asked the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), headed by Andrés Martínez Reynoso, for another strategy to promote destinations in the northern part of the state, given the great disappointment they experienced with occupancy below 70% during the summer, which represented drops of up to 15 points.
