The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascensionrevealed this Thursday that the Government is considering the construction of a ring road in the province Barahonain order to continue shortening the distance on the way to Flints.

The official said that the executives of the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) are holding meetings with the provincial authorities to analyze the construction of the road.

“Just yesterday (Wednesday) we were meeting with the authorities of Barahona. Edgar; the new senator, Ayala; Montero; the new deputy and with the mayors, to make a bypass in Barahona,” he revealed.

He said that the measure seeks to ensure that those traveling to Pedernales, Enriquillo, Paraíso and other towns do not have to go through the city of Barahona.

The Minister of Public Works stated that engineer Elías Santana has the task of beginning to work in that direction in order to continue contributing to the development of the southern region of the country.

In this regard, Deligne Ascención also explained that the works for the development of the southern region include the expansion of the Sánchez highway to kilometer 15 of Azua.

He also reported in El Gobierno de la Mañana that the Government is also building an alternate route to Enriquillo and Pedernales, which seeks to shorten the distance to reach the tourist center.

He also provided details of the construction being carried out by the entity on the Baní bypass, adding that the road could be in service to users at the beginning of next year 2025.
