During the first quarter of 2024, Hotel occupancy reached 60.9% in 70 destinations monitored by DataTur, which represents an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2023.

Torruco added that from January to March 2024, the tourist centers that stand out for Hotel occupancy are: Playacar (Playa del Carmen) with 92.9%, Nuevo Nayarit with 86.7%, Akumal (Quintana Roo) with 84.4%, Cabo San Lucas with 83 %, Cancún with 81.8%, and Puerto Vallarta with 81.5%, these being the destinations with the highest occupancy levels.
Thus, the epicenter of the Riviera Maya achieved the country’s occupancy record, at a great distance of more than 10 percentage points from its neighbor Cancún in the north of Quintana Roo.
Torruco highlighted that the arrival of tourists to Hotel rooms during the first quarter of 2024 was 20.3 million tourists; of which 14.2 million were national tourists, this is 70% of the total; while 6.1 million were foreigners, which represents 30% of the total, in the 70 centers monitored by DataTur.
Cities recorded 11.5 million tourists to Hotel rooms, while beach resorts received 8.8 million tourists to Hotel rooms in January-March 2024.
