Restaurants in Playa del Carmen are complaining about poor sales this summer due to the All-inclusive and holiday rentals that are causing potential customers to avoid consuming in the surroundings of their accommodations.
This is what Eunice Sala Carrillo, municipal secretary of Tourism, has indicated, according to Noticaribe. “Perhaps many restaurateurs were not favored, since many of the tourists stayed in their hotels, with the ‘all inclusive’ and vacation rentals,” said the official.
Although the holiday season in the Riviera Maya reached an occupancy rate of 88%, restaurateurs were not so favored with these numbers, Sala Carrillo stressed, emphasizing that many All-inclusive tourists prefer to stay in their hotels, since they have food and drinks. Meanwhile, those who decide on vacation rentals, such as those promoted by Airbnb, prefer to buy in supermarkets and cook themselves.
Recently, Quintana Roo restaurateurs have connected 300 security cameras to the command, control, computing, communications and citizen contact center (C5) of this entity to guarantee the peace of mind and safety of customers, as stated REPORTUR.mx (Cancun: restaurants connect cameras to police command).
