Although the first steps have already been taken to create the trust that will be in charge of the maintenance of the Hotel zone of Cancún, – replacing Fonatur – and state government resources have been allocated to maintain Kukulcán Avenue, they are insufficient to more quickly address the damage caused by the heavy rains that have hit the region.
You only have to take a walk down Kukulcán Avenue and enter Retorno del Rey, the street where hotels such as Kempinski (formerly Ritz Carlton), Golden Parnasus, Sandos Cancún and Secrets The Vine are located, to realize the damage.
On Kukulcán Avenue, next to the Museum and the San Miguelito archaeological zone and in front of the Seadust Cancún Hotel, there are two large potholes that are not visible when it rains, causing problems for drivers.
