Organizations seek to curb misuse of laser pointers in air operations – Tourism News

At the nineteenth regular meeting of the National Committee on Civil Aviation Safety (Conasac), the director of the Specialized Corps for Airport and Civil Aviation Security (Cesac), Floreal Suarez Martinezpresented the compendium on the advances in airport security and civil aviation in the Dominican Republic.

During the meeting the topic of Procedure for Action in the Use of Laser Beams in Air Navigationwhich seeks to counteract the misuse of laser pointers that can affect air operations and compromise aviation safety.

In this regard, the general director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Hector Porcella, He considered the importance of stopping the use of laser pointers to the detriment of aircraft in the country and highlighted the initiatives proposed to sanction and eradicate this practice.

Another relevant topic discussed at the meeting had to do with the “Tail to tail transfer procedure, from aircraft to aircraft,” for the luggage of passengers in transfer at the Punta Cana International Airport.

The activity was headed by the Minister of Defense, Carlos Luciano Diaz Morfaas president of Conasac and responsible for coordinating and supervising the implementation of policies and procedures to prevent acts of illicit interference in the aeronautical sector.

Díaz Morfa closed the session by encouraging the actors to continue with the advancement and development of security policies in civil aviation, as recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
