President Luis Abinader reported that the Government will deliver 100,000 pesos to each of the athletes who qualify for the Paris Olympic Games and delivered the first checks to a group of those athletes during his usual La Semanal press conference, at the National Palace. .

The Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, together with President Abinader, presented the checks to the athletes Audrys Nin Reyes, gymnastics; to the boxers Yunior Alcántara and María Moronta; to the weightlifters Yudelina Mejía, Crismery Santana and Beatriz Pirón; Luis Miguel Pérez, from wrestling, as well as taekwondo players Bernardo Pie and Madelyn Rodríguez and a representative of ‘Las Reinas del Caribe’, who are outside the country.
Taekwondo athletes Geraldo Castro, Julio Armando Figuereo and Elisabeth Geraldo, qualified for the Paralympic Games, which will also be held in the French capital, just after the Olympic Games, also received the resources.
The Dominican Republic has so far qualified 48 athletes for the Paris event.
Camacho highlighted that more than 1.3 million Dominicans have been impacted by the recreation programs of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation so far in this administration, as well as the free learning program taught at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center and the East Park.
“As a result of this, two athletes who started swimming with this program are now part of the national team,” added the minister.
Abinader highlighted that the Government has already delivered 235 million pesos for all the preparation and competition of the Dominican delegation that will compete in Paris 2024.
He indicated that of 88 sports centers, a total of 51 have been built or practically rebuilt from scratch, of which 49 have been delivered and 39 are in the process of execution.
In that sense, he revealed that the academies of the Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks teams will soon be inaugurated.
He also made reference to the support for the Dominican Baseball League (Lidom), the investment for the World Classic and the return of the Major League preseason games, as occurred this year in a two-game series between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Abinader announced that the funds for the remodeling of the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís have already been disbursed, and the national baseball commissioner, Junior Noboa, revealed that the resources will be managed by the board that manages that stadium, under the supervision of the authorities. sports.
