The Charity Commission of England and Wales banned the British model this Thursday Naomi Campbell be trustee of a charity for the next five years, after a investigation revealed widespread evidence of “misconduct“financial in the past.
The British regulator found that ‘Fashion For Relief‘, the organization that Campbell founded in 2005 and led for more than a decade with the goal of using the fashion industry to end povertyonly transferred a small part of the millions raised in events, which were used to cover the model’s private whims.
Research results
Specifically, the investigation revealed that between April 2016 and July 2022 only 8.5% of the total bills of ‘Fashion For Relief‘ were allocated to grants for charitable purposes.
The regulator described it as “unreasonable” that 9,400 euros of the organization’s funds were used to pay for Campbell’s stay in a five star Hotel in Cannes for three days, as well as spa treatments, cigarettes or personal security of the model.
Campbell’s organization was dissolved and removed from the registration of charitable societies in England and Wales on March 15 when under the scrutiny of the control bodywhich claimed to have recovered some 344,000 pounds (413,130 euros) and to have “protected” an additional 98,000 pounds (117,709 euros).
According to British media reports, the funds collected by the regulator went to NGOs Save The Children and to Mayor’s Fund for Londonwho made complaints to the Charity Commission about ‘Fashion for Relief‘.
