The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) rejected the company’s actions On vacation in the DRwhich he said was not registered with the Ministry and was not licensed to provide any tourist services in Dominican Republic.
In a statement, the company said that the company had recently failed to meet commitments made to its clients regarding vacations and Trips that had already been paid for.
“The Mitur is making approaches with Pro Consumer and the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic so that they act with the full weight of the law,” he explains.
In addition, they took the opportunity to remind the population that since 2021 the Ministry of Tourism has digitized the operating licenses and made the National Tourist Registrya web resource where companies that provide tourism services, including Travel agencies and tour operators, can be validated.
The portal displays the entities that have operating licenses and their status.
“We recommend checking the RNT or requesting the QR code of the company’s license before establishing a business relationship or purchasing tourist services,” he said.
For his part, the executive director of the National Institute of Consumer Rights (Proconsumidor), Eddy Alcantaraassured that said entity guarantees to give a timely response to people who have reported being scammed by the tourist agency “De Vacaciones en RD”.
Alcántara reported that they have received, through Proconsumidor’s digital channels, several complaints related to “On Vacation in the DR,” whose clients claim that they paid for packages that were not provided to them under the agreed terms or they simply cancelled the tour after having paid for it.
