Marriott has promoted Argentine Federico Greppi to lead its Latin America and Caribbean operations, meaning he will be in charge of nearly 500 hotels in the region, which represent $5 billion in annual sales.
“Federico has a strategic vision and never loses sight of the day-to-day needs,” said Brian King, president of Marriott International CALA. “His ability to translate the global vision into locally actionable actions was critical to the business and has earned him recognition,” King added.
Greppi will be Marriott’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the region, after beginning his career in the hospitality sector in 2003, occupying various positions in the American chain’s central offices and in the Americas.
Before joining Marriott, the Argentine worked as a consultant for various sectors of the consulting and financial services firm Andersen. Greppi has an MBA from the London Business School and is a graduate in Business Administration and accounting, as reported by El Clarín.
As reported by REPORTUR.mxCity Express Hotels, now owned by Marriott and founded by Luis Barrios, is changing its name. The Hotel operator and manager recently announced that, after two decades, its commercial name will now be Norte 19, a change that will also involve an operational adjustment in its business model. (Marriott’s City Express is renamed Norte 19).
With this evolution, Norte 19 Promotora de Hoteles is embarking on the goal of developing and operating other brands in different market segments, which will allow it to continue its growth in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
