With rainbow flags, costumes with rhinestones and glitter, colorful makeup, music and dances, the “Caravan of the Pride LGBTIQ Dominican 2024″ of the Network of Volunteers Friends Always Friends (Revasa).

Diversity in the streets, demanding equality Rights” was the motto of this year. Hundreds of people belonging to the community took to the avenue coming Francisco Alberto Caamaño, known as del Puerto, in the Colonial Zone, National District.

A parade of vehicles, floats, trucks with horns and people on foot traveled through various sectors of the National District.

“The idea of ​​the caravan, which today celebrates its 17th anniversary, is to make the community visible, mobilize the community around the theme of pride and of course celebrate the diversity“said the executive director of Revasa, Daniel Benitez.

According to Benitez, they seek to attract the attention of the State and the authorities to recognize the rights of the community, “which are the same as those of all Dominicans.”

“We can also enjoy the rights and duties that Dominicans enjoy simply by being Dominican, paying taxes and fulfilling the duties that we have as Dominicans,” continued Benítez.

One of the activists on the networks, known as “Permission Girl,” said that they are demanding rights and respect and that it is something that will be reciprocal.

The activity will close with a concert featuring various DJs and guest artists such as: La Perversa, La Insuperable and Tokischa.

She has a degree in Social Communication from the Catholic University of Santo Domingo.
