He Ministry of Culture reported that the details are being finalized for the inauguration this Thursday, October 7 of the Fair International from the Book of Saint Dominic (FILSD 2024), event that will take place at 7:00 pm at the Eduardo Brito National Theater.
The institution He highlighted that the assembly of the event, which will be held until November 17, is almost completely advanced, in order to receive the enthusiastic attendance of thousands of visitors to this book festival, which in this edition has as the honored author the writer Mateo Morrison and as guest of honor to Washington Heights.
In the Square of the Culture Juan Pablo Duarte can see cleaning staff, workers, electricians and gardeners carrying out the work of conditioning the fifteen pavilions and rooms that will concentrate the literary and cultural agenda of the FILSD 2024.
In order to ensure the security of the assistantsthe MINC will deploy a wide-ranging device security composed of around 450 personnel from different military, police, relief and first aid institutions.
With the motto “Books connect”, the cultural event will feature the participation of representatives from 242 publishing labels and dozens of local distributors, as well as more than 500 activities, including conferences, book circulation, exhibitionstalks, screenings of short and feature films, workshops, recitals poetics, colloquiums, plays and storytellers.
More than twenty renowned writers of the community Dominicans abroad will participate in the fair’s activities program, as well as a select group of writers from 18 countries, among which are award-winning novelists, essayists, short stories, poets and authors belonging to other genres.
- One of the new features that will be presented by the FILSD 2024 will be the “Fair outside home“, consisting of a series of activities with writers national and international outside the fairgrounds.
The pavilions
In this version of the “Country Brand” event the Pavilion of the Imaginationan innovative meeting point where visitors can delve into the fascinating universe of technology; and Comics, in which prominent studios dedicated to disseminating this genre will participate.
The attending public will also be able to visit the Pavilion of Editorials and the Paseo de la Lectura, where 47 bookstores will offer an attractive variety of books. For their part, Washington Heights and Mateo Morrison will have separate pavilions.
Likewise, this year the Pavilion Children with a programming especially for the little ones.
Traditional spaces such as Authors DominicansLiterary Workshops, Government and Educational Institutions, the Room of Letters, the Room of Academies, as well as the Cinema and Literature spaces, will also be present once again. A novelty that this edition presents is the Pavilion of Narrative, where outstanding poetic recitals will take place.
The Identity and Citizenship pavilions, of Animation to the Reading and the Scripture, the Hall of Encounters and the traditional Bono Libro space complement the offer of the FILSD 2024.
