The Government will carry out the recovery of the bank on the east side of the Ozama Riverspecifically in the Las Lilas sector in Santo Domingo Este, which will consist of the sanitation environmental protection of the river, the transfer of families who live there exposed to risk situations due to natural phenomena and sources of contamination derived from human action.
For this, the Executing Unit for the Readaptation of Neighborhoods and Environments (City), attached to the Ministry of the Presidency, published in the transactional portal of Contracting two processes tender. The first is for the “contracting of 400 moving and hauling services for the families who live there for a value of 15 million pesos. It is estimated the daily realization of 30 moves to meet the goal of eliminating human settlements in this part of the river bank in one year.
The second process is to hire a company to take care of the demolition of structures built on the river bankthe boatload of material resulting from the demolitions and the adaptation of the land, for a value of 46 million pesos.
The total investment in the recovery process will be 61 million pesos. According to the terms of the tenders, Both processes must be developed within one year from the execution of the contract.
Last Thursday, during a visit to the area by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, it was reported that the recovery project includes a series of actions that seek to rescue an approximate length of one kilometer from the bank of the Ozama River in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este.
