Fans of “game of Thrones“came out in crowds to participate in the auction of hundreds of costumes, props and other items from the series in an event that raised more than $21 million.
Between Thursday and Saturday, the event Heritage Auctions in dallas It exhibited more than 900 lots that included armor, swords, weapons, jewelry and various other objects from the HBO series.
The item that raised the most was the same one for which the characters of the series competed throughout its eight seasons: the Iron Throne. After a bid of six minutes, sold for $1.49 million.
The replica was made of plastic and the mold was based on the original screen-used version, finished in metallic paint and adorned with jewelry. In the series, the throne was forged with the breath of dragon which melted the swords of a thousand defeated contenders and became synonymous with the power struggle throughout the series.
Heritage Auctions said in a statement Sunday that the event raised $21.1 million, with more than 4,500 participants. The auction was Heritage’s second-best entertainment event, just behind the record set by a bid of Debbie Reynolds in 2011.
The general vice president of Heritage, Joe Maddalenasaid in a statement that he knew that the auction would have an impact.

Initial bids ranged from $500 to $20,000, but several items sold for thousands of dollars more. Such was the case with several capes and dresses worn by Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen and Lena Heady as Cersei Lannister. A gray suede outfit worn by Daenerys sold for $112,500, exactly $100,000 more than her bid initial, and the red velvet dress that Cersei wears in her last appearance in the series, sold for $137,500, $122,500 more than her bid initial.
