With the screening of the film “Eat deep“The fourth edition of the Fine Arts Film Festival Made in the DRwhich will run until May 8, a platform dedicated 100% to Dominican cinema.

The festival presented by Caribbean Cinemas and Altice will take place in 5 of the Fine Arts Cinema Café at Novocentro, Santo Domingo, and in the Plaza Internacional in Santiago, with new Dominican productions in different genres and unpublished short films.

This edition featured the film Coma Profundo, a drama full of hope written and directed by Roberto Ángel Salcedo, produced by Johanna Peña and with performances by Pepe Sierra, Lizbeth Santos, Christian Álvarez, Manolo Ozuna, Gracielina Olivero and José Manuel Rodriguez.

On the other hand, Caribbean Cinemas executives stated that this platform dedicated 100% to Dominican cinema includes educational talks for lovers of the seventh art such as:

  • The storyboard or storyboard, taught by Jorge E. Pérez and Leorian Ricardo de Moro Studio
  • The importance of data downloading on set, by Jocelyn Parra.
  • Presents and future of film criticism in Dominican taught by members of the Association of Press and Film Criticism (ADOPRESCI).
  • The challenges of making a guerrilla documentary, taught by Minervas Films, a female-led film production company based in the Dominican Republic.
  • Performance for a new generation of talents, by Pepe Sierra.

They also mentioned the official jury made up of film critics: Ariel Feliciano, Marc Mejía, José Rafael Sosa and the great actress Judith Rodríguez, which is chaired by Félix Manuel Lora, who will evaluate the films and select the winners in the following categories:

  • Best Leading Actress
  • Best supporting actress
  • Best lead actor
  • Best supporting actor
  • best director
  • Best screenplay
  • Best film

About Deep Coma:

It tells the story of Alex, a young motorcycle racer, married to Jacqueline, with two children, Natalia, 11, and Alex José, 9. In a competition, Alex loses control and suffers a spectacular accident that takes him to the clinic. When performing surgery, Alex falls into a “deep coma.”

Seven years later, and a lot of resistance from the children for not disconnecting from their father, Alex wakes up, considering a new resurgence with his life, upon learning of the events that happened while he was sleeping.
