Robert Ezekiel Gomez Castillo, former pitcher who stood out with the Cibaeñas Eagles in the Lidom and the San Francisco Giants in the MLB, died in a accident of transit early this Sunday on the Joaquín Balaguer highway, in front of the Kola Real facilities, in Santiago.

According to the report of the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett), the accident occurred at 2:15 am, when the Hyundai vehicle he was driving Gomez collided with a 2016 Scania truck.

The impact was fatal for the former player, while two people who accompanied him were injured and they were transferred to a medical center through the National Emergency System 9-1-1.

The driver of the truck, identified as Wandy Joel de los Santos Pérez, was arrested for purposes of research.
