The Union Association of Aviation Flight Attendants, which represents Aeroméxico staff, would be preparing a strike after failing to reach an agreement following two unchanged salary and welfare proposals.
The strike could begin in 10 days, since in the consultation of 414 workers votes for a second proposal, with the same salary increase of 2.6% and a reduction of breaks on transoceanic Flights (Asia and Europe) from 48 to 24 hours.
They insist that the proposal puts the health of the staff at risk and the salary increase does not come close to the 11% they have requested. At the assembly, the strike and the logistics to carry it out were discussed, considering that they must be ready to stop the company’s work as of June 1, as reported by El Economista.
As reported REPORTUR.mx, although in the first negotiation the Aeroméxico Flight attendants already proposed a strike by not accepting the first proposal that did not change as it was a 2.6% salary increase. Likewise, the Aviation Flight Attendants Union Association (ASSA) had already rejected the reduction of breaks on long-range Flights -Europe and Asia-, which would go from 48 to 24 hours. (Aeroméxico: Flight attendants would go on strike due to a low salary increase).
ASSA also did not accept the reduction of breaks at that time, considering that “they directly threaten the quality of life and put the health of crew members and passengers at risk,” as reported by El Financiero.
