The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes update your cybersecurity standards for new aircraft and equipment. The announcement was made in a notice in the Federal Register, the content of which can be viewed by clicking on the link.
The update covers the aircraft itself, engines and propellers, as Hackers are becoming more and more sophisticated.
The update would be intended for commercial aircraft carrying 19 or more passengers and aircraft that weigh more than 19,000 pounds at takeoff. Manufacturers of the aircraft in question must respond to the FAA’s risk assessment and are responsible for making any updates to comply with the mandate.
It is a detailed proposal that includes satellites and Internet-connected devices.
