Following last Friday’s surprise strikes and chaos at airports, another difficult day is expected next Friday at Aeroparque and Ezeiza.
Both the Aerolíneas Argentinas pilots union and the Flight attendants’ union announced strike action before the weekend due to the lack of a collective bargaining agreement, a dragging situation that has already affected thousands of passengers with delays and cancellations at both air terminals, as has been revealed REPORTUR.com.ar (AR: They threaten strikes if they fail to reach an agreement on salaries.
The aforementioned unions announced that “there will be partial strikes.” APLA’s statement warns that “due to the lack of satisfactory responses from the company” it was decided to deepen the strike measures. “Therefore we announce that we will carry out ‘direct action measures’ on Friday, September 6,” it said, without providing further details on the scope of the measure in thestatement from the Airline Pilots Association.
They continue to insist on the wage adjustment and in the statement they stress that they have already waited a significant amount of time and that further delays and “proposals that are not only insufficient, but provocative” are unacceptable.
“The salary arrears we have been facing are very serious. That is why we decided to deepen the conflict we have been carrying out and we will be carrying out forceful measures on Friday the 6th” at both airports in Buenos Aires.
